Tribute Poem - Denis Callinan
By Warren Young, Wednesday, 30th January 2008
He filled the impatient hour glass until it overflowed.
He didn't travel the beaten track,
His was the unknown road.
He made you feel it was all worthwhile,
There was light where shadows fall.
He would help you go the extra mile,
He was a good man after all.
The childlike wonder and love of life,
Made the journey richer still.
Today we lay thee down to rest,
As the sun sets behind the hill.
Lord may we see him dancing on the swell,
In the morning offshore breeze.
May his kindly spirit always dwell,
In the South Pacific Sea.
And may the waves that wrap around Burleigh Point carry his legacy,
For the life of Denis Callinan will live in our memory.
